Why People Want To Work With Hawkinson Construction

Hawkinson Construction performed many contracts for General Services Administration. Their work spanned several years. Projects were at the Anchorage Federal Building and United States Court House complex. Their work was of high caliber, always complete, without delay or need for correction. The ridged security requirements for working in offices required employer and worker background investigation checks before work could commence.

Contracts ranged from demolition, metal stud and sheetrock wall construction, door and door frame installation, carpet installation, painting, sound proofing, fire rated wall construction, security space construction, ceiling and lighting installation, HVAC installation, and air balancing. Electrical modifications included lighting, lighting controls, wiring, 120, 230, and 277-volt circuits.

From the outset it was clearly evident that Hawkinson Construction, Inc. had the client’s best interest in mind.  From helping to establish the preliminary budget thorough the successful construction of the project, Hawkinson maintained a level of professionalism and personal detail that sets them apart from many other construction firms.  It was truly a pleasure to work with another firm that understands the “team” concept.

We first learned of Hawkinson Construction from a friend and senior building official at the municipality of Anchorage.  After building two pervious homes and coming away with mixed feelings at the end of the project, we wanted to make sure that we did everything possible to find the best general contractor for our final project and “dream home”.

Our needs were a little different then some as we were building out of pocket, needed to control costs, and wanted to participate in the building process were we could.  We interviewed several builders, but after meeting Jon Hawkinson for one hour at a house that he was just completing I knew that we had found the right guy for our project.

He was gracious enough to make a spot in his schedule (he does not take everyone!) and we began to build the following spring of 2008.  At the end of the project nearly 11 months later, I reflected back. It was hard to believe that we never got frustrated or angry with the builder during construction. I know from experience that this is rare.

Attention to detail, quality, professionalism, follow-thru, and customer satisfaction are all good words to describe Jon’s approach to building custom homes.  He would warn us when our desires were putting the budget in jeopardy, and in the end we completed on time and on budget. Jon uses high quality sub-contractors and understands their strengths and weaknesses and makes adjustments as needed.

We would highly recommend Hawkinson Construction to anyone in the future.  The fact that we send Jon and his family a Christmas card every year and now consider him a friend of the family might be the best testament to how we felt at the end of the project and to this day about Hawkinson Construction and our beautiful home.
